Now That I am finally done with midterms week and have a free moment, I can tell you all about my trip to Vermont and gush about all things fall. This spontaneous trip to my second home was just the get away I needed. I felt like I never left, as it always feels when I return to Vermont.
Burnt fall colors pass by, reds, oranges and yellows. The smell of burning fire wood creeps through my car window as I drive through the roads of Vermont. There are mountains in the distance, those quite country side hills. Rain turns to sunshine. Crisp fresh air surrounds me. This is New England fall. I can not get enough of this season. It is pure serenity, pumpkins, apple cider, apple picking, cider donuts, changing leaves, corn mazes. There is just something about a New England fall and all the festivities that come with it, that is like no other.
My mom, dad, both my dogs (they were so excited to come along!) and I headed up to Stowe for a Sunday full of fall activities, foliage and family. We went to Cold Hollow Cider Mill where we met up with some family for cider and donuts. My Dad and I even stopped to watch the cider being made and tasted the fresh chilled cider off the press. It doesn't get any better than cold fresh cider!! Inside the cider Mill was complete country store vibes, with jams, nik naks, pies all the goods! Then we headed to downtown Stowe for an afternoon of country store shops, fall scenery and dinner outside. Of course with Ben and Jerry's being less then 5 minutes away from downtown, although not a traditional fall activity, I could not drive by and not stop, so we ended the night with ice cream cones and called it a successful fall day. These are the days I live for, time with family in beautiful places and uncalled for fall outings. But there are also days like today when fall is watching Friends non stop and living off of tea while comforted by my fuzzy blanket and an open window. Both are ideal.
Part of the beauty of fall is the clothes, the layers the colors the hats the booties, the big sweatshirts oh my! I took advantage of the warmer fall weather on this particular weekend playing around with light layering. One of my favorite colors that comes with fall is maroon, there is somethings about it that is the perfect amount of cozy, mellow and vibrant. My latest nail color is even maroon this way I get to have a bit of maroon in ever outfit!
Hope everyone is enjoying their fall days as much as I am! What are you favorite fall activities? Comment and let me know!
